Why CCTV Security Cameras Make Sense

By Uncategorized No Comments

IMG_1055In 2014, four home invasions occurred every minute in the United States. That is one burglary every 15 seconds. In addition, according to the FBI, a motor vehicle is stolen every 44 seconds. These thefts are often from the owner’s own driveway. These are scary and shocking numbers to think about when it comes to the safety of your property and, more importantly, family. However, you can take measures to protect yourself and keep from being a statistic.

A recent study by the University of North Carolina at Charlotte found that most burglars will determine if a home is equipped with a deterrent such as CCTV security cameras or an alarm system before attempting to enter your home. The fact of the matter is, criminals are smart. They are also lazy. If invading your home isn’t easy, they will find an easier mark.

CCTV security cameras around your home offer peace of mind so you can relax knowing that your family is safe. With advancements in technology, you can monitor your home from your smartphone or computer at work.  As a deterrent, security cameras let criminals know that you refuse to be a victim. Also, heaven forbid the criminal is not swayed, there is a good chance he will be back. One out of every five burglarized homes is targeted again by the same criminal. Having him on camera will help the police catch him and lock him away.

Security cameras placed outside will allow you to keep an eye out for vandals or car thieves. Having video evidence of the crime will greatly improve the chances of recovering your vehicle and putting the bad guy behind bars. Also, we know kids can make some stupid decisions. If you wake up one morning to find your mailbox smashed or your car spray painted, you can simply watch the video to find out who is responsible.

The bottom line is that one in every thirty-six homes will be burglarized this year in the United States. Count the houses you pass as you drive through your neighborhood and do the math. Leaving yourself unprotected makes it a matter of when… not if. When it comes to protecting your family, it is better to be safe rather than sorry. Ask yourself, “Can I afford to add a CCTV security camera and home monitoring system to my home?”

With the average loss of a home burglary sitting at $2,230 per break-in, can you afford not to?
